According to reports in Croatia, Everton are ready to battle AC Milan for the January signing of defender Domagoj Vida.
What’s the Story?
With his contract with Dynamo Kiev set to expire on the 1st January, Croatian international Domagoj Vida is looking for a new club and, according to reports from his homeland, AC Milan and Everton are the two clubs in running for his signature.
The 28-year-old, who is valued at £8.1million by Transfermarkt, will be available for absolutely nothing; a total steal considering his talents and experience.
How good has Vida been this season?
In short, superb. It has been no secret that Vida has been the best defender in Ukraine for the past two seasons, and this campaign is no different.

The Croatian has featured in 16 games for Kiev this campaign, scoring twice in the process. However, perhaps his most accomplished feat of the year is the fact that he was the only Croatian to play every single minute of his country’s successful World Cup qualifying campaign. His form made him undroppable.
Would Vida be a good signing for Everton?
This is a no-brainer. An experienced international defender in great form and available for nothing is too good a deal to turn down.
While Vida hasn’t had experience of the English game, he is strong, imposing, vocal and a real leader, which is something Everton desperately need in their fragile team right now.
A better defender than Ashley Williams and more experienced than Michael Keane, Vida would be the perfect partner to either of the current Toffees centre backs.
