Real Madrid striker and Tottenham target Gonzalo Higuain has hinted he could be prepared to leave the Bernabeu, according to the Express.
The north Londoners are not alone in looking at the Argentina international – arch rivals Arsenal are also keen – and the player’s father has suggested playing in England would be a ‘good opportunity’ for his son.
The 25-year-old scored his 12th goal of the season as the Spanish capital club ran out 5-1 winners over Lavante at the weekend but was cagey when asked if he would sign a new deal in the summer.
Higuain answered: “I am available to the club but I will not say any more. This is not the time.
“I can only say that I’m committed to the club and will help the team until the end of the season.”
Despite a string of injuries, Higuain scored his 100th goal in the La Liga in February. If Madrid can’t guarantee him consistent first team football, Higuain may opt of splitting time with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. He has over 30 caps for Argentina, and will want to continue to impress coach Alejandro Sabella with the likes of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero also competing for a starting striker spot.
