Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Gerson from Flamengo in January, per 90min.
What’s the word?
Spurs are reported to have held talks with the Brazilian club, who lost the Club World Cup final to Liverpool on Saturday, in the January transfer window.
Flamengo paid $13.3m (£10.2m) to secure the signature of the 22-year-old in the summer and he has gone on to make 36 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and registering four assists.

Spurs are pushing to complete a move for the Brazil U20 international and are hopeful of doing a deal prior to the turn of the year, and may even allow him to remain in Brazil for the remainder of the season.
A Serie A flop
Gerson was not able to make his mark in Europe.
The central midfielder played for both Roma and Fiorentina in Serie A but did not exactly stamp his authority on life in Italy.
He made 42 appearances for the former, scoring two goals and registering just one assist, while playing 40 times for the latter, with three goals and four assists.
Gerson’s numbers aren’t exactly supreme in a lower-quality league, either, while playing for Flamengo.
Making a move to bring him to England, then, would be something of a risk for Spurs, particularly given that they have a number of midfield options already.
No clues whatsoever: Which seasons do these iconic Spurs images belong to?
After all, the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Christian Eriksen, Harry Winks and Dele Alli can all play in the role.
A move for Gerson, then, seems something of a folly.
Meanwhile, a Spurs target could end up in north London due to “fate”.
