It was only going to be a matter of time before someone was going to try and pounce on Sabri Lamouchi, who is attracting the interest of at least one Premier League club, according to The Sun on Sunday [6/10, page 63].
What’s the word?
Whilst he may have come in as a relatively unknown man in the summer following the departure of Martin O’Neill, the new Forest boss has certainly hit the ground running when it comes to life in the Championship.
Having lost his first competitive game against West Brom on the opening day of the season, he has taken the Reds from strength to strength, with Forest currently on an unbeaten run of ten in the Championship.
By the looks of it, this success isn’t just garnering attention from those in the Championship either. According to a report from The Sun On Sunday, Lamouchi’s start to his tenure at the City Ground has caught the attention of at least one Premier League club.
And the chances are?
Whilst it would certainly be a bit of a shock for him to jump ship so soon after he has taken the reigns at Forest, it certainly wouldn’t be out of the realms of possibility that he could take an interest if a club comes calling.
You only need to look at Marco Silva’s time in charge of Watford to know that managers are sometimes prone to moves whenever they feel like it – thus, this report is somewhat concerning.
That being said, the way that Lamouchi has spoken about his ambitions for Forest lead you to believe that he wants to manage in the Premier League, but that he wants to do it with Nottingham Forest too.
In pre-season he said: “Every fan wants the same thing for Forest as well. This is my goal. But my job is not to think about what is happening in April and May, but what is happening in August, right now.”
Given they’ve lost just once, you can’t rule out the possibility that they can do it this season, which surely makes the possibility of him leaving soon, extremely remote.
That’s why there shouldn’t be too many concerns with all this talk.
Perhaps it might be something to think about come the end of the season if they haven’t achieved promotion and a number of Premier League clubs are looking for a new boss, but for now, those at Forest can sleep easy.
