Since the summer it was clear that Ross Barkley’s Everton career was coming to an end.
The midfielder opted against signing a new contract at his boyhood club and was heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
A transfer never came to pass in the summer, but earlier this month, Barkley secured a switch to Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old had not played at all this season before moving to Chelsea due to a hamstring injury.
On Wednesday night, the midfielder made his debut for the Blues by coming on as a substitute in the team’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Barkley replaced Willian half an hour into the game as a result of the Brazilian picking up a hamstring injury.
The £15m signing’s first taste of life at Chelsea ended in disappointment as the team ended up losing the tie 2-1 to the Gunners.
Understandably, Everton fans were keen to see how their former player performed for his new club.
