Ruben Neves had a fantastic season in the Premier League, taking to life in the top flight like a duck to water after Wolves’ promotion winning campaign.
The Portuguese midfielder is now starring at international level too. Earning his tenth cap for Portugal in the Nations League on Wednesday night, he impressed in the middle of the park.
He played a vital role in his country’s second goal. The 22-year-old sprayed a wonderful ball over the top of the Switzerland defence which Bernardo Silva was then able to cut back for Cristiano Ronaldo to score.
Taking to Twitter after the game, certain Wolves fans were left in awe of the ranging pass. One supporter claimed that Neves was crazy, whilst another called him a player with gifted vision.
The midfielder’s ability to pick a pass is a particularly strong aspect of his game, ending the season with a pass success of 81.2%. He also averaged 6.1 long balls per game in the Premier League.
Two further individuals were baffled that the commentators didn’t pick up on his pass properly.
Wolves’ number eight missed just three league outings last term as he played a huge role in helping his side qualify for Europe for the first time since 1980.
