However, BBC writer Andy West has since claimed that Mina will now choose Everton over Manchester United, moving to Merseyside for a fee of around £35m.
While you might expect it to be one or the other, the Toffees have sold two centre backs this summer, and currently only have two fit centre backs, so a double swoop to reinforce the defence makes perfect sense, especially as one of them is only a loan deal.
Signing both players would be a real statement of intent, and a move for Brazil attacker Bernard is getting closer too.
According to The Times, Everton have agreed a deal with the free agent, and fans are now praising Brands for his transfer work.
