The hosts earned fivepoints and the visitors went back with three points. Maharashtrascored 455 for eight declared in their first innings while Baroda wererestricted to 327.On the opening day (Saturday), Maharashtra skipper Dheeraj Jadhav wonthe toss and made optimum use of the wicket with an unbeaten doublecentury. His mammoth innings helped the hosts declare at an imposingtotal, which was compiled off 115 overs. Jadhav hit 202 off 334 ballswith 30 boundaries. Jadhav and Kaushik Aphale added 154 runs for thethird wicket off 223 balls. Aphale was unlucky to have missed out onhis century when he edged medium pacer Shekhar Joshi to wicketkeeperBadola on 95. He made his runs off 119 deliveries with 15 hits to thefence and one over it. Later, Pranav Inamdar scored a breezy 33 off 15balls, with four boundaries and two sixes. He added 65 runs for theeighth wicket with the skipper. Shekhar Joshi was the most successfulbowler, picking up three for 109.Baroda openers Rishikesh Parab and Rohan Salvi gave their side a finestart, putting on 148 runs off 73.3 overs. Parab scored 69 off 224balls including seven boundaries, while Salvi was dismissed for 78 off259 balls with eleven hits to the fence. However, with Sachin Aradhyepicking up the wickets, Baroda slumped in the post lunch session.Jitendra Singh showed some signs of a fight with a breezy knock of 42off 60 balls while wicketkeeper Bobby Badola remained unbeaten on 57.Baroda were finally bowled out after 13.5 mandatory overs were bowled.Aradhye finished with six for 60.
