After Arsenal moved back into fourth spot, following their 3-1 victory over West Ham last night, Everton took on Crystal Palace in the hope of regaining the final Champions League spot.
Most people would’ve expected Roberto Martinez’s men, who are on a brilliant run of form, to have, at the very least, avoided defeat against Tony Pulis’ side.
Following the Toffees’ failure to overcome Crystal Palace, it just goes to show that talk of them making next year’s Champions League may well have been a little premature.
You’ve got to beat the smaller sides
Tony Pulis has done a brilliant job at Crystal Palace, but there is no denying that Everton should expect to beat such opposition, especially if they want to play Europe’s elite next season.
Arsenal’s experience
Arsene Wenger certainly didn’t expect to be in this position after his Arsenal side led the Premier League for most of the season. But, the fact of the matter is, they’re.
Securing fourth spot when it doesn’t seem possible has proved to be a trait of Arsenal’s and given they have the experience of doing it, you imagine they will come through again.
